   埃塞俄比亚和苏丹的食物短缺、人民挨饿的消息震惊了迈克尔· 杰克逊和莱昂内尔·里奇，迈克尔杰克逊认为流行音乐之王与众星自己"该做点什么"，于是他们合写了这首歌曲。两人费了四天的时间写曲，里奇先完成一部分，杰克逊看到后灵感大发，一夜之间就把全曲写好。之后他又花了两个半小时作词，为了普遍推广此曲，歌词也力求简单易学。于是就有了这首旋律优美动听，歌词朗朗上口充满了对人世关怀，满溢着大爱的传世佳作。
